Hi, we are Jenny & Stuart and we currently teach Lindy Hop* classes at Silsden in West Yorkshire. We have attended dance camps for many years, been taught by many of the best Lindy Hop teachers from around the world and continue to strive to be the best we can. We are members of the Guild of Professional Teachers of Dance. We have been teaching Lindy Hop since 2003 and were the winners of the North East Swing & Jive Championship 2008.
In our classes we focus on showing you how to dance socially to the music; making our drop-in classes fun, friendly & informative.
Classes are on Tuesdays from Absolute Beginner, through to Improver & Intermediate level, with time for social dancing & practice in between. There is no need to bring a partner as we move you around during the class, so you soon get to know everyone. We can also do private lessons, to really give you a boost, if you are interested.

*Lindy Hop, also known as Jitterbug, is a partner dance & really cool form of jive which developed in Harlem in the 30’s/40’s and was the forerunner of all other forms of jive. It’s still very popular today & is danced socially worldwide, attracting a wide variety of age groups.
Sorry but we're not currently planning any more dates for beginner workshops in York.
Many on the Northern Swing Dance Scene (Lindy Hop or 40’s) will know that it’s Stuart Newbould. A regular Swing DJ at the dances of Revival Night/ Flat Foot Fly Right/ Lindy Hop Sheffield/ Lindy Fridays/ Haworth 1940’s weekend plus many other events over the past few years.
The Shoe Shine Boy is constantly adding to his extensive music collection of Swing, Jazz, RnB etc. to bring forgotten but fantastical dance music to the attention of a wider audience and because he’s got years of dancing experience he knows exactly what will keep the dancers happy.
Revival Night was set up to promote swing and social dancing in the Leeds, Bradford and Wharfedale area. At the moment we focus more on our weekly dance classes with occasional weekend workshops with fabulous international guest teachers eg. Graeme & Ann from Hoppin’ Mad in Bath, Russell & Carolene from the Jiving Lindy Hoppers in London and Gary & Sara Boon from Gloucester Lindy Hop.
We play a range of music, mainly from the 20’s through to the early 50’s, including early rhythm n blues, swing, jump blues, charleston, boogie woogie, big band, jump jive and strolls. Some of our favourites include Louis Jordan, Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, Big Joe Turner, Ruth Brown, Count Basie, Albert Ammons and Chick Webb. We also play music by modern bands of course, if they are great to lindy hop to. We play a mix of tempos to suit everyone and we encourage different styles and abilities.
The bands who have played for us include Dominic Halpin & the Honey B’s, Big Al’s Hoodoo Kings, The Big Heat, The Ding Dong Daddies, TC and the Swing Cats, The Revolutionaires, Honey B and the Kings of Sting, The Slammers Maximum Jive Band, The Cadillac Kings, Oo-Bop-Sh’Bam & The Ray Bailey Soultrain.
Parties, Demonstrations, Workshops, Private Tuition or DJing (Retro Swing & RnB). Please contact us to have a chat about your requirements.
